It is sad to see Slovak government members supporting the Russian regime directly in Moscowthe Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies commented on the trip of the delegation of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic to the Russian capital of the Czech Parliament Markéta Pekarová Adamová. According to her, they are serving Russian propaganda, she said on the social network X, informs the correspondent of TASR in Prague.

“It is sad to see Slovak government members directly supporting the Russian regime in Moscow and serving Kremlin propaganda. Unfortunately, a similar journey was completed by my predecessor when after the illegal annexation of Crimea, he negotiated with people from the sanctions lists,” the head of the chamber wrote.

She was referring to the current member of the ANO opposition movement, Radek Vondráček, who presided over the Chamber of Deputies from November 2017 to October 2021. In October 2018 in Moscow, he negotiated with people on the EU sanctions lists. At the time, Russian media also quoted his critical words about anti-Russian sanctions and Czech media. He therefore faced criticism for his servility towards Russia.

“I appreciate that in the Czech Republic we have clearly turned the rudder to the West, where we belong. Let’s keep it up!” added Pekarová Adamová. The Czech government, the parliament and the office of the president currently adhere to the same foreign policy direction of the country, they emphasize EU or NATO membership and the country’s orientation towards the West. At the time when Miloš Zeman was president, the foreign policy of the Castle and the Government Office differed. According to the current coalition, it caused that The Czech Republic was unreadable for foreign partners.

The Slovak parliamentary delegation met with the chairman of the Russian State Duma Viacheslav Volodin in Moscow on Monday. At a joint press conference, the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the SR, Andrej Danko, expressed his belief that this meeting marks the restart of the dialogue between the parliaments of both countries. He believes that such a visit is not the last during this election period.
