Two people started arguing and then there were iron bars, sticks and a sharp weapon. They would all be foreigners.
There were moments of disorder this Sunday at Benformoso Streetclose to the Martim Moniz, em Lisboa – precisely the location of the famous incident in December, when dozens of people were pressed against the wall.
Seven people were injured. The conflict began with an argument between two people, for “futile reasons”, cites the . The original conversation would be about the illegal arrangement of sales stalls on the sidewalk.
But then there was iron bars, poles and white weaponin moments of violence between two groups (one of the men called “reinforcements” and the discussion reached another scale).
Everyone involved in the confusion would be foreigners – regularized. It is not known exactly how many people were in the riot.
One of the victims was stabbed in a lower limb and another in the lower back, police said. In fact, it was only with the arrival of the police that the atmosphere calmed down.
The agents were called by four of the people who were in the middle of the confusion; they moved away from the attacks and went to the police station next to Martim Moniz.
“There was some violence, we have records of broken teeth, attacks with a knife on the leg and stomach, cuts on the head”, revealed the PSP deputy, Iúri Rodrigues.
The police force was reinforced in that area, but it is very unlikely that there will be arrestsadmitted the deputy: the seven people who presented themselves at the police station are all victims.
Farid Ahmed Patwary, spokesperson for “Don’t Push Us Against the Wall”, assures that Saturday’s protest is not related to this incident: “It could have been a criminal event but, whenever it comes to immigrants, they want to make national headlines“.
Hours later, the CNN Portugal reporting team was attacked on the spot. The journalist and cameraman called the police.
