Agent was passing along the highway in Diadema when he spotted an attempted theft of a motorcycle; 2 other men were shot
A 21-year-old young man was killed on Saturday afternoon (January 11, 2025) by an off-duty civil guard from Diadema (SP), 517.8 km from the capital of São Paulo, when he was subjected to an attempted robbery.
According to the (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), a municipal civil guard, whose identity was not disclosed, was traveling along the Imigrantes highway when he caught two men, aged 24 and 30, who were trying to steal a motorcycle.
The agent then fired a firearm at the alleged robbers. During the confrontation, Carlos Eduardo Nascimento was shot and died at the scene.
The SSP-SP reported that the 2 men were shot and taken to the Diadema Municipal Hospital. One of them was discharged and arrested in the act, while the other remains hospitalized under police escort.
Both were detained in the act by military police officers for the crimes of attempted theft and vehicle seizure. The motorcycle used in the robbery, which had previously been stolen, was returned to the owner.
According to the secretariat, the weapons used in the action were seized and the case was registered at the 3rd DP (Police Department) of Diadema.

“Two men, aged 24 and 30, were arrested red-handed by police officers for the crimes of attempted theft and vehicle seizure, at around 6pm this Saturday (11), on Rodovia dos Imigrantes. As determined, a GCM was following his vehicle along the highway when he witnessed the criminals trying to steal a motorcycle. Upon noticing the action, he reacted and fired a firearm. During the confrontation, the victim, 21, was hit and succumbed to his injuries, dying at the scene. The suspects were also hit and taken to the Municipal Hospital of Diadema, with one of them being discharged and arrested in the act. The other remained hospitalized, under police escort. The motorcycle used by the robbers had previously been stolen and was returned to the owner. The weapons used in the action were seized and the case was registered at the 3rd DP of Diadema. Investigations are still underway to investigate all the circumstances.”
