Attack, which occurred on Friday night (10), resulted in the death of two people and left six injured

Ítalo Rodrigues da Silva, one of the individuals suspected of involvement in the attack on an MST settlement in São Paulo, remains at large. A has already issued a warrant for him and Antonio Martins dos Santos Filho, known as “Nero do Piseiro”, lasting 30 days. The attack resulted in the death of two people and left six injured.

Antonio Martins, who is considered the leader of the attack, was arrested last Saturday (11), in Taubaté. During his detention, he confessed to his participation in the crime. The judge at the Taubaté Jury Court ordered the preventive detention of both suspects, citing “consistent evidence of authorship” of the violent act. Authorities from the Taubaté Specialized Criminal Investigations Police Station are mobilized to search for Ítalo and identify others involved, which could be around ten people.

The Olga Benário settlement, which was the target of the attack, was established in 2005 and currently houses 46 families. Residents reported that they have been facing constant threats over the past two years. The Civil Police are investigating the reasons behind the attack, which may be linked to a disagreement over the negotiation of a plot within the settlement. The Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, commented on the incident, stating that the action was an attempt to invade a plot destined for agrarian reform, with the aim of promoting real estate speculation.
