The number of confirmed victims of large-scale fires that have plagued the agglomeration of the American city of Los Angeles for almost a week rose to 24 on Sunday. Eight dead were found in the area where the Palisades Fire is raging, the remaining 16 in the area of the Eaton Fire. Newsom said that the widespread use of electric cars and related infrastructure complicates the recovery of the aftermath of the fires, as the remains of the batteries must be disposed of professionally.

In the meantime, billionaire Elon Musk announced on his platform X, according to the DPA agency, that he wants to offer free internet through the Starlink satellite system in the areas affected by the fires in Los Angeles. Powering the receiving devices will be provided by Cybertruck electric cars from Tesla, which Musk heads.
