This city, less than 2 hours from Portugal, is compared to Albufeira and has camels on the beach

When traveling, in addition to many looking for the cheapest destinations, there are also those who favor cities that are close to the sea and have year-round sunshine. Therefore, the probability of having a vacation without unexpected events related to the weather is greater, in addition to the fact that rest days are cheaper. It is precisely this set of factors that has led more and more Portuguese people to choose the city of Agadir, in Morocco, as a holiday destination.

It is in his book entitled “The Dream Routes”, that the famous travel writer, Tiago Salazar, compares the Moroccan city of Agadir to Albufeira. “Seen at a glance, the city has the air of Albufeira, in the height of summer, although in a less camone and more Muscovite variant (the new Russians have already reached this coast)”, writes Tiago Salazar in his book. However, the travel writer is not the only one to make the comparison between Agadir and the Algarve city.

Just like in the Algarve, in Agadir the sun also illuminates the city all year round and this is one of the factors that has contributed most to more and more tourists choosing the Moroccan city for their holidays. Even if you’re going to Agadir just for the beach, be sure to visit Souk El Had, which has over 6,000 stalls and shops and is one of the most popular and largest souks walled and covered walls of Morocco.

After visiting the mosques, as well as the Medina of Agadir, you can finally choose one of the city’s many beaches to lie down in the sun. You can either choose to spread your towel on Taghazout Beach, or you can go to Legzira Beach. If you see camels in the sand, don’t worry, in Morocco it’s a common sight. The blog adds that, although Agadir is a Muslim city, women can wear bikinis on the beach, even with Muslim families nearby. “The philosophy here is mutual respect”, highlights the same blog.

In addition to the beauty of the city, what attracts many Portuguese people to Agadir are the cheap, short-haul flights between Portugal and Morocco. We’re talking about less than two hours of travel. There are several flights leaving from Lisbon and Porto to the Moroccan city and you can find return prices from 53 euros, depending on the dates you select.
