The Union of Police Officers of the State of São Paulo demanded from the governor () the replacement of the inflationary losses that it had suffered in recent years and the restructuring of salaries.

In a statement, the president of Sindpesp, delegate Jacqueline Valadares, states that the recomposition is the governor’s campaign promise. A technical opinion commissioned by the union from a specialist indicates that, if inflationary replacement were carried out from November 1993 to June 2023, the starting salary of a third-class delegate should be R$ 19,315.11 — currently, it is R$ 15,823.66. The last adjustment of the category took place in August 2023.

Valadares states that the 11.2% increase in the state’s budget, to R$20.3 billion in 2025, would allow the governor to fulfill his 2022 campaign promise and present a plan for valuing professionals and restructuring state salaries. Civil Police.

“What can be seen from the budget piece is that resources exist, and have even increased compared to last year, which is why it is expected that there will now be real investment in São Paulo’s Public Security professionals”, he says. “This is the only way to increase the attractiveness of careers and reduce the constant evasion of civil servants to other competitions and the private sector.”

The president of Sindpesp also remembers that the governor is entering the third year of his term at Palácio dos Bandeirantes. “Considering the existence of cash, the moment is ideal for the approval of a staggered adjustment for the institution for the next two years, which cannot be postponed any further”, he states. “After all, in 2026, due to the electoral election, several limitations will be imposed on the granting of adjustments to civil servants.”

In a statement, the Public Security Secretariat stated that the measures taken by management “evidenced a strong commitment to police valorization.”

“Proof of this was the unprecedented salary adjustment in the first year of management, resulting in an average increase of 20.2% for all careers, which benefited more than 100 thousand professionals from the Civil, Military and Technical-Scientific police, retired and pensioners”, he said in a statement.

The agency says it is committed to valuing police officers and “works to readjust all security forces.” “The objective is to ensure that categories receive fair remuneration, which reflects the importance and complexity of their functions”, he adds.
