An “amphibious” car, which is capable of moving both on land and in water, was seized at Praia do Gonzaguinha, in São Vicente, because it did not have legal authorization to circulate in maritime waters. Furthermore, the car was handcrafted.
The car was produced by Caio Strumiello, 53 years old, and was a hit in the city and on social media. See below:
According to the City of São Vicente, the action occurred following a request from the Operational Control Center, which identified the possible presence of an amphibious vehicle in the Píer dos Apaixonados region, raising concerns about the safety of the population and possible environmental damage, such as an oil leak. .
The GCM Environmental Inspection team, upon arriving at the scene, found that the vehicle was handcrafted. Due to the unusual nature of the vehicle and the need to verify navigation documentation, the Port Authority was called to carry out an inspection.
During the approach, maritime authorities found that the amphibious car did not have a license or any documentation necessary to navigate in maritime waters. Given the irregularity, the Port Authority seized the vehicle.
What is an amphibious car?
An amphibious car is a vehicle capable of moving both on land and in water. The car got its name from amphibians, which are animals that can live both in water and on land, such as toads, frogs and salamanders.
The model seized in São Vicente was built by Caio Strumiello, from an adapted boat hull with wheels and two engines: one for a motorcycle and the other stationary, commonly used in sugarcane juice machines.
Caio shares the production of automobiles on his social networks, which includes everything from amphibious automobiles to cars for disabled people.
At the moment, Caio is building another amphibious car and even jokes “let’s see if they can arrest this one too!”:
