Los Angeles – Six days after the devastating fires broke out in Los Angeles, the fire department continues to fight the flames. As the authorities announced on Sunday, the death toll rose to at least 24. After a brief calming of the weather over the weekend, meteorologists expect the so-called Santa Ana winds to return on Sunday evening (local time). These could last until Wednesday and make extinguishing work considerably more difficult. The dry downdrafts from the desert had repeatedly fanned the flames and carried sparks for miles. “Conditions remain extremely dangerous,” warned Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone. The evacuation orders could be extended at any time.
