At Hamburg airport, Germany, a 33-year-old woman was caught carrying 90 kilos of chocolate viral on social media. The 460 bars, valued at around two thousand euros, were distributed in three suitcases and raised suspicions among the authorities.
German police believe that the chocolate, famous on TikTok, was intended for commercial sale, which led to its seizure. The woman was not detained, but is being investigated for possible tax evasion and had to pay import duties.
The fate of the seized bars remains uncertain, as does confirmation that they are the original brand. The sweet, coming from Dubai, is made from pistachio cream and knafeh, covered with milk chocolate, and became a phenomenon after influencer Maria Vehera published a video tasting it, in 2023.
