Acre records an increase of almost 30% in spending on the Justice system, says survey

Data from Plataforma Justa, released this week, show that state government expenses with courts, Public Prosecutor’s Office and Public Defender’s Office increased by 36%, from 2022 to 2023.

The survey was carried out based on the budget of 18 federation units: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Sergipe and Tocantins. The other states did not provide information.

São Paulo leads the ranking, with expenditure of R$15 billion, R$12.3 billion of which for the Court of Justice alone.

According to the data, Acre had expenses 29% above what it had recorded in the previous year – without a specified amount.

The states that are part of the survey directed R$77.1 billion to the Justice system in the period analyzed. The value is equivalent to around 7.6% of the total expenses of these locations.
