Now it’s official: attacking midfielder Thaciano is Santos’ new reinforcement. The São Paulo club announced the signing of the former Bahia player, on Monday night (13). Thaciano was bought from Tricolor and signed a permanent contract until the end of 2028.
Thaciano arrived at Bahia in 2023, bought from Grêmio. The midfielder had played for Tricolor in 2021, when he won the Copa do Nordeste title. Last year, he played in attack and ended the year as the Bahian club’s top scorer, with 15 goals. Among the most important goals, he scored one in the 2-0 victory over Atlético-GO, which resulted in the Squadron qualifying for the Libertadores.
Santos did not officially disclose the value of the operation, but will pay around R$32 million for the athlete. A part of the value will be deducted from the installments that Bahia would have to pay for the purchase of Jean Lucas.
Despite being considered an important piece in Rogério Ceni’s game model, the value offered by Santos, in addition to the high salary that the player will receive, were crucial in making the deal happen.
Thaciano is already integrated into the Santos squad and in recent days he said goodbye to Bahia via social media.
“Today I say goodbye to this club that welcomed me so well, brought me unique and special moments. My family and I are very grateful for everything we experienced here. It was almost two years together, several battles, many we won, others not so much, but always We were together. The curious thing is that I wasn’t born in Bahia, but my family and I became BAHIA! The time has come to leave, but I have a feeling of accomplishment”, wrote the player, in a long farewell statement.
