O Bahia announced, this Tuesday (14), the signing of striker Willian José. The player was at Spartak Moscow, in Russia, and was definitively acquired by Esquadrão de Aço. The contract runs until the end of 2026.
Ex-Real Madrid, Willian is already integrated into the Tricolor squad, which is carrying out pre-season training in the city of Girona, Spain. In recent days, the striker underwent medical examinations before signing with .
Revealed by Grêmio Barueri-SP, Willian José has played for Rio Preto-SP, Grêmio and Santos in Brazilian football. He left Peixe in 2013, heading to Real Madrid, and since then he has never returned to play in Brazil.
In Spain, he also played for Real Zaragoza, Las Palmas, Real Sociedad (the club for which he stood out the most) and Real Bétis. In the 2020/21 season, he played for Wolverhampton, from England.
In 2024, Willian José arrived at Spartak Moscow. The player played 13 games for the Russian team and scored one goal.
Passage at Real Madrid
In the 2013/14 season, the center forward had a short spell at Real Madrid. So much so that he only played one game with the Spanish club’s main team: he played for 21 minutes in the Whites’ 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo in the 37th round of LaLiga.
Willian José’s other 16 games in Madrid were for Real Madrid Castilla, considered the club’s “B team”. He scored four goals in the period.
