The former president’s response sent this Monday also includes images to demonstrate that the email received by Eduardo Bolsonaro is the official one, used by the ceremonial team.
According to the former president’s defense, the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, Inc. leads the organization that will plan the events celebrating the inauguration of Trump and JD Vance as president and vice president, as described on the website.
“At presidential inaugural events in the United States, it is common practice to adopt specific and temporary domains created precisely for sending invitations and formal communications – via email –, which were registered exclusively for this purpose”, state the lawyers.
Regarding the time and schedule of the event, the defense cites the website and states that additional details will be released soon, but that the celebrations will begin on the 18th and continue until the 21st, with the inauguration taking place next Monday, the 20.
“The inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump is an event of notable political and symbolic magnitude and the invitation to attend his ceremony is loaded with meanings and implies several important aspects, such as strengthening ties and strengthening bilateral relations between countries through dialogue between two global leaders”, says the defense.
Bolsonaro’s passport is withheld and he is prohibited from leaving the country as part of the investigations he is the subject of, including suspicion of involvement in the attempted coup d’état in 2022.
