Livraria Lello initiative approved by several restaurants. It’s 119 years and the beginning of a year dedicated to one theme: love.
A famous Lello Bookstore celebrated this Monday 119 years. A different day, with free entry (almost 10 years ago entry was paid, due to the high number of tourists).
This January 13th also marks the beginning of a thematic year dedicated to amor.
Inspired by love, by the bicentenary of Camilo Castelo Branco and for your masterpiece Love of Perditionthose responsible who decided
“transforming literature into something that can be savored: love in its sweetest form”.
“On this journey through feelings and flavors, we want to bring to the tables of the Portuguese – and especially those from Porto Alegre – a celebration that combines literature and gastronomy”.
Translation: the dessert that brings together cheese e marmalade, who often cites
William Shakespeare and his work Cheese and guavanow becomes “Simon and Teresa”.
Simão Botelho and Teresa de Albuquerque are the protagonists of the drama, the tragedy, of Amor de Perdição, written by Camilo Castelo Branco. As in Romeo and Juliet, there are forbidden loves, strength, sacrifice, courage.
And already practically 20 restaurants joined to this initiative that Lello launched together with AHRESP – Portuguese Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Association. So, don’t be surprised if you find “Simão e Teresa” on the dessert list.
Livraria Lello sells an average of 1 million books per year. Entries alone (mostly Spanish) generate 12.8 million euros annually. And, continues , there are days when he sells 5 thousand books.
