Despite the increase in cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Covid-19 and arboviruses, such as dengue, zika and chikungunya, throughout the state, Intensive Care Units (ICUs) do not face overcrowding.
The information appears on the virtual panel of the Observatory of the State Department of Health (Sesacre), updated this Tuesday (14).
At the Acre Hospital Foundation (Fundhacre), of the 18 ICU beds offered, 9 are occupied. The situation is a little complicated at Santa Juliana Hospital, because 19 of the 20 beds offered are occupied.
The Rio Branco Emergency Room has 17 ICU beds, five of which have patients in a delicate state of health.
In Juruá, eight of the 10 beds are occupied at the Regional Hospital, as announced by Sesacre.
Fiocruz warns of growth in SARS
The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) released the first bulletin InfoGripe of the year 2025 last Friday (10), with information on cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Epidemiological week 1 covers the period from December 29, 2024 to January 4, 2025.
In the survey, Acre and four other states (Alagoas, Paraíba, Rondônia and Roraima) showed a long-term growth trend in cases.
“Rhinovirus remains the main virus responsible for SARS cases in children and adolescents up to 14 years of age in recent weeks, while Sars-CoV-2 (Covid-19) predominates among the elderly”, says the bulletin.
Emergency situation due to arboviruses
The State Government declared an emergency situation throughout Acre due to the increase in cases of arboviruses, especially those caused by dengue, chikungunya, zika, mayaro and oropouche.
The decree was published in the edition of Official State Gazette (DOE) last Thursday (9) and was signed by the acting governor, Mailza Assis.
“A public health emergency has been declared in the State of Acre, due to the multiplication of cases of febrile syndromes caused by arboviruses and the increase in related care in public health units”, states the document.
