Therefore, it is worth washing all plants with organic potassium soap at least twice a year. It is an effective means of combating pests such as aphids, spider mites and whiteflies. It works by dissolving the insects’ protective wax coating, leading to their dehydration and death. In addition, plants grown indoors accumulate dust and other pollutants. Washing them with potassium soap can help strengthen them. Clean leaves absorb sunlight better, which promotes healthy growth and flowering. This is especially important in January, when flowers slowly wake up from their winter rest. To effectively get rid of pests and pollutants, smaller plants can be immersed in the solution, larger plants can be washed leaf by leaf and sprayed in hard-to-reach places. Potassium soap is biodegradable and environmentally safe. Unlike many chemical plant protection products, it does not leave harmful residues and does not pollute the soil or water. It’s easy to use. Dissolve the potassium soap in water according to the instructions on the package. Typically, 1-2 tablespoons of soap per liter of water is used. Wash smaller plants in the prepared solution (you can immerse them together with the soil). Wash larger ones thoroughly with a soft cloth. Spray hard-to-reach places with the solution, paying particular attention to the lower sides of the leaves, where pests often gather. After a few hours, rinse the plants with clean water to remove soap residue and dead insects.
