The Single Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) informed that the entity and its unions will hold an event this Tuesday, 14th, in protest against the change in the rules on remote work. From April onwards, workers will have to carry out in-person work for three days, not two, as is currently the case.

According to the FUP, the protests will take place at Petrobras headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, and at other administrative bases, in addition to operational units.

“FUP stands against this unilaterally determined change and argues that teleworking rules need to be adapted to the specific activities of each worker. The Federation believes that there are functions that can be carried out entirely remotely, while others require physical presence”, warned the entity in a note.

According to the FUP, even with the current rule, many workers end up going to Petrobras units without the need for face-to-face interaction, characterizing what is known as “in-person teleworking”.

“The Federation proposes that the number of remote and in-person work days be assessed on a monthly rather than weekly basis, offering more flexibility to meet the needs of workers and the company. To this end, the creation of a committee in each unit to individually analyze each case is one of the suggestions”, explained the general coordinator of FUP, Deyvid Bacelar.

“There is no evidence that teleworking has harmed productivity”, reinforces Cibele Vieira, director of FUP. “We believe that changes to the working model should be discussed in a transparent manner, respecting the interests of both parties,” she says.

Last week, Petrobras’ executive board approved adjustments to the hybrid work model. “Thus, everyone who adhered to this model will carry out in-person work for at least three days a week, starting in April”, informed the company.

“The aforementioned adjustments aim to improve the integration of teams and management processes, in addition to contributing to the agility in delivering important results for the company, which is in the project growth phase”, explained the state-owned company in a note.
