What is known about the firing of the 'Orechnik', the Russian "new strategic missile" without a nuclear warhead

Kiev confirmed responsibility for the attack, which affected targets more than 1,000 kilometers from the border

This Tuesday, Ukraine launched its biggest air attack against Russia since Moscow launched its invasion.

One of the targets was the Taneco refinery, one of the largest in Russia, located in Nizhnekamsk, more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukrainian territory. Due to bombing using drones, refinery workers had to be removed from the site. A video posted on social media shows flames surrounding the structure.

Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Combating Disinformation, confirmed the attack. “The refinery plays a key role in supplying fuel to the Russian armed forces. The destruction of refineries and oil deposits directly affects Russia’s ability to wage intensive warfare,” he said,

Ukraine also struck other targets in the regions of Bryansk, Saratov, Tuva and Tatarstan. “The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out the most massive attack on the military installations of the occupiers, at a distance of 200 to 1,100 kilometers within the territory of the Russian Federation,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote on Facebook.

Targets also included a chemical plant in Seltso, more than 100 kilometers from the border, that produces rocket fuel and ammunition for the Russian army, an oil depot near a Russian air base and military installations.

On the Russian side, the Ministry of Defense claims that the country’s forces shot down six British Storm Shadow missiles and six American ATACMS missiles that Ukraine launched against the Bryansk region.
