MEC will launch “Pé-de-Meia” of the degree on Tuesday

Students who took Enem 2024 and choose courses in the area will already be entitled to the benefit, says minister

The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, stated this Monday (January 13, 2025) that he will officially launch the degree “Nest Egg” on Tuesday (January 14). According to the head of the agency, students who enroll in courses aimed at training teachers in basic education through Enem (National Secondary Education Examination) 2024 will already be entitled to the benefit.

The initiative is part of the “Mais Professores” program, whose objective is to encourage young people to enter the career. Registration for Sisu (Unified Selection System) on Friday (17th January).

“The Bachelor’s Nest Egg will be officially announced tomorrow, as part of the Mais Professores program. What I can guarantee is that it will be available in Sisu registrations from Friday for young people who took Enem 2024”he told journalists at a press conference for Enem results.

Camilo said that there is already an estimate of the impact of one of the Lula government’s main programs in the annual Budget, which will be detailed at the time of its launch. The announcement will be accompanied by a major television campaign to publicize the initiative.

In November, the minister said the grant for those choosing undergraduate courses in higher education will be more than R$500 per month.

Nest egg in high school

In effect since March 2024, Pé-de-Meia offers financial support of up to R$9,200 for each eligible student, as long as they attend at least 80% of classes. The federal government’s initiative aims to encourage retention and completion of high school in public schools.

The program rewards continued school attendance. The amount received by the student in a given month reflects their attendance in the previous month. If students do not reach the 80% attendance threshold in any month, the corresponding installment will not be paid.
