The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) sent this Tuesday (14) to the (Attorney General’s Office) statements from ()’s defense regarding an invitation to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration in the United States.
The former president asks for the release of his passport, withheld amid investigations into the 2022 coup plot, to go to the event.
Now, the Prosecutor’s Office will analyze a request and give its opinion on it. The final decision will be up to Moraes.
On Saturday (11), the minister asked for the inauguration to then send Bolsonaro’s request to the PGR.
The judge stated that the former president’s defense had presented an email sent from an unidentified email address and “without any time or schedule of the event to be held.”
Bolsonaro’s defense request, sent on Thursday, stated that he had received a formal invitation in November from the “Hispanic Inaugural Committee” to participate in the inauguration ceremony and “the official Hispanic inauguration ball”, scheduled for next Saturday ( 18).
This Monday (13), the email address used to send the invitation email is a formal means of communication used by the event’s ceremonial team.
“At presidential inaugural events in the United States, it is common practice to adopt specific and temporary domains created precisely for sending invitations and formal communications – via email –, which were registered exclusively for this purpose”, state the lawyers.
The former president’s response sent on Monday also included images to demonstrate that the email received by Eduardo Bolsonaro is the official one, used by the ceremonial team.
According to the former president’s defense, the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, Inc. leads the organization that will plan the events to celebrate the inauguration of Trump and JD Vance as president and vice president, as described on the website https://t47inaugural.com .
Regarding the time and schedule of the event, the defense cites the website and states that additional details will be released soon, but that the celebrations will begin on the 18th and continue until the 21st, with the inauguration taking place next Monday, the 20.
Bolsonaro’s passport is withheld due to investigations involving the former president, such as the 2022 coup plot.
