The elected president of the United States, Donald Trumpwill participate for video conference next week at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Davos (Switzerland) and will maintain a dialogue with attendees, the organization announced this Tuesday. Trump’s participation will take place on Thursday the 23rd, three days after the ceremony this Monday the 20th in which he will be sworn in again as president, and what is expected is that he will offer details of the policies that will be priorities for his Government.

At a press conference to present the program of the Davos Forumwhich will be held from January 20 to 24, its president and CEO, Borge Brende, also highlighted the participation at the highest level of the European Union and China, as well as an unprecedented participation of representatives from the world of politics and of the businesses of the so-called Global South.

This edition of the Davos Forum will have 3,000 participants from 130 countries and what the WEF proposes is that this occasion be used to “find areas in which it is possible to improve the state of the world.” “We have the leaders we need for that, 350 government leaders, including 60 heads of state and government; as well as 900 of the most important CEOs of the largest companies in the world among 1,600 executives,” Brende explained.

Al Davos Forum Political leaders from countries that have experienced great political and social changes will also travel, such as Bangladesh, Armenia and Syria, among others. For China there will be Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang; The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, and other leaders from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia will also attend. “All these leaders, plus the leaders of business, civil society and unions will form the good mix to look towards areas in which we can advance together,” Brende stressed.

He stressed that events such as a future pandemic, the gigantic fires of recent days in Los Angeles, climate change in general and technological issues, such as cybercrime, which is thought to cost up to $2 billion this year in 2025, These are all issues that countries cannot address in isolation. Political tensions will also be at the center of attention at the Davos Forum and in this sense the presence of the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, was highlighted, as well as the participation of representatives from the Middle East to discuss the conflicts in this region.

Emerging technologies and in particular artificial intelligence will constitute another of the central themes of the debates at the Davos Forum, as indicated by the motto that has been chosen for this edition: ‘Collaboration in the Intelligent Era’. “We are experiencing a unique moment in terms of the rapid advance of technology, of exponential innovation, and on the other hand we are facing the profound forces of geopolitical fragmentation,” reflected one of the executive directors of the Forum, Mirek Dusek.
