Israel and Hamas reached an agreement. This is what is known IN UPDATE
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas will include an initial period of six weeks of total pause in fighting in the Gaza Strip, a source informed of the negotiations told Reuters.
As part of the peace agreement, the agency writes, Hamas committed to releasing 33 hostages, including all women, civilian or military, children and men over the age of 50. The Palestinian group will first release women and minors, and only then men over 50 years old.
Hostages will be released over the course of the initial six-week ceasefire phase, with three hostages being released per week and the remainder until the end of this initial phase. The living hostages will be released first, with some bodies of dead hostages to be handed over later.
The Israeli side, in turn, committed to releasing 30 Palestinians for each Israeli civilian released by Hamas, and 50 Palestinians for each Israeli soldier released.
The Israeli government also undertakes to release all women and people under the age of 19 detained since October 7, 2023 until the end of the first phase of the invasion of the Gaza Strip.
In total, Israel is expected to release between 990 and 1,650 Palestinian detainees, according to Reuters.
The implementation of the peace agreement will be the responsibility of Qatar, Egypt and the USA.
Negotiations for the second phase of the agreement are expected to begin on the 16th day of the first phase. This phase is expected to include the release of men held hostage by Hamas, including soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The third phase, writes Reuters, should include the return of all the bodies of Hamas hostages killed during captivity and the beginning of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, a process supervised by Qatar, Egypt and the United Nations.
