The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, announced this Wednesday from Lebanon that Spain will reinforce the Lebanese armed forces with the aim of having a strong military power and thus ensure stability in the region, a few days before the end of the halt. to the fire agreed with Israel almost 60 days ago.
In total, there will be an additional ten million euros added to the 21 million with which Spain contributes to the United Nations program and that will serve as salary supplements for the military and a solar panel project that will allow logistics for the new phase in which Lebanon enters: retreat again between the south of the Litani River and the border with Israel and rebuild all those civil infrastructures that have been bombed by Netanyahu between September and December.
“Peace and specifically peace in the Middle East is a priority in Spanish foreign policy. Lebanon and Syria are two crucial countries for stability in the region and the Mediterranean,” he explained from Beirut, indicating that Lebanon must be “sovereign” and urging its neighboring country to comply with the resolutions of the UN Security Council and maintain the ceasefire.
“Lebanon is a symbol among Muslims and Christians,” he expressed in this regard in the middle of the meetings he will hold today with the highest levels of the new executive in the country.

“Peace throughout the Middle East is interrelated,” he insisted, exemplifying that what happens in each of the countries in the region has an impact on all of them. “All points of the ceasefire must be fulfilled. When this sixty-day ceasefire period expires, it must be permanent and there must be a withdrawal of Israeli troops,” he expressed in this regard while insisting on continuing to defend the creation of a Palestinian State that “provides peace and security.” .
“I have hope and I will never lose it that what Spain asks for comes to fruition: a permanent ceasefire,” he expressed about the negotiations between the Israeli state and Hamas in this regard and that could be imminent. “There is no justification to continue bombing the civilian population. At the moment when this ceasefire takes place, Spanish aid is ready to enter Gaza,” he expressed.
