Pedro Passos Coelho was head of Government at the time of the BES resolution, in the summer of 2014, and his inquiry had already been scheduled for October 30, 2024.

Former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho will no longer be heard this Wednesday as a witness in the main case of the fall of Banco Espírito Santo and Grupo Espírito Santo, after the hearing was postponed due to the strike by judicial employees.

Pedro Passos Coelho was head of Government at the time of the BES resolution, in the summer of 2014, and his inquiry had already been scheduled for October 30, 2024.

O The case currently has 18 defendantsincluding the bank’s former president, Ricardo Salgado, aged 80 and diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office estimates that the acts allegedly carried out between 2009 and 2014 by the 18 defendants, former employees of BES and other entities within the GES sphere, caused losses of 11.8 billion euros.
