The (Israeli Confederation of Brazil), the main representative of the Jewish community in Brazil, released a statement celebrating the anniversary after 467 days of war.
In , Hamas attacked Israel, in an action that left 1,170 people dead. The group also took 251 hostages. The reaction left 46,707 dead as of this Wednesday, according to Arab accounts. During the period, there was only a one-week ceasefire in November 2023, in which 105 hostages were exchanged for 240 Palestinian prisoners.
“Conib expresses its relief and joy with the expected release of 33 hostages held under inhumane conditions, including women and children, in phase 1 of the agreement, and looks forward to the urgent release of all hostages still held by the terrorist group.”
The announcement of the ceasefire was confirmed by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed al-Thani. A staggered exchange of the remaining 98 hostages since Hamas terrorists’ October 2023 attack was arranged for about 1,000 of the 12,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The ceasefire is expected to come into force on Sunday (19).
