Repainted, clean walls are one of the most beautiful decorations in the home. However, sometimes these surfaces can become dirty due to various situations. Oily spots can appear the most difficult. Fortunately, my grandmother gave me some tips on how to combat them.

Removing stains from walls is a rather thankless task. The success of stain removal very often depends on the type of paint with which the surface is painted. If acrylic or silicone paint was used for coloring, we can breathe a sigh of relief and start. Warm water will be an essential element in restoring the original shine. Other components will be selected depending on the type of stain.

Strange stains on the wall. Removing them doesn’t have to be a difficult task

Before cleaning stained surfaces, you should first test the reaction of the paint to a cleaning mixture with warm water and a little soap to be sure. If we do not notice any undesirable symptoms, we can proceed to wiping the stain with gentle circular movements (using a sponge). Remember to use only water at the end and wash off all soap residue. When the wall dries and we are still not satisfied with the result, we can proceed to other, slightly more advanced home methods. Some of them were even used by our grandmothers.

Grease stains on the wall? This is how our grandmothers did it

It will come as no surprise to anyone that we list baking soda as one of the most effective ingredients for cleaning stains. The properties of this white powder product were also used by our grandmothers, because its action can be truly beneficial. In the case of stains on the wall, it is enough to mix the powder with water in such a proportion that a paste is formed, which you then apply to the greasy area and spread gently. After several circular movements, remove the mixture, wipe the surface and let it dry.

Another equally effective product is potato flour. It is ideal for walls where grease is a larger layer than paint. Pour a little of the preparation on a slightly moistened cloth and rub it into the soiled area. A slice of white bread, which you can also use to rub into the greasy stain, has a similar effect.

Rub the joints and wait a few minutes. The deposit will literally dissolve by itself
