It had been imminent for days and it is now a reality. There is a ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of war. With the mediation of the Government of Qatar as a central element, both parties have signed a document that consists of three phases and includes the release of all hostages still in the hands of the Palestinian faction.
Since the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, which left more than 1,200 dead and 250 kidnapped in Israel and the immediate response of the Hebrew army, Gaza has experienced a year and three months of destruction. The war was only stopped for a few days at the end of November 2023, with a brief ceasefire that has not found continuity until now. In all this time, Gazan authorities report more than 46,700 deaths in the Strip, many of them children.
