The Government of Acre sanctioned this Wednesday (15), the law that grants exemption from paying the licensing renewal fee to motorcycle taxi drivers across the state.
The measure, proposed by the State Executive itself, was approved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Acre (Aleac) in December 2024 and came into force after the signature of vice-governor Mailza Assis, during a ceremony held in the auditorium of the State Department of Traffic ( Detran/AC).
The president of the Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Union, Eriberto Gomes, highlighted the importance of the initiative for the category and thanked the government for its attention to the class.
“The motorcycle taxi category thanks the state government, Detran and our union for the partnership we have. This government action only helps and strengthens our category even further. In 2023, he donated two helmets for each motorcycle taxi. On that occasion, he promised to hold this event by donating a vest for each motorcycle taxi and exempting them from licensing. And now he is fulfilling what he promised”, he stated.
Vice-governor Mailza Assis reinforced that the measure reflects the government’s commitment to the population of Acre, especially in generating jobs and promoting policies that directly impact the lives of citizens.
“The licensing exemption is a law that will provide employment opportunities for those who need it. This demonstrates our commitment to the population of Acre, by investing in public policies that directly impact each person’s life”, he declared.
With the new law, the government seeks to provide financial relief for motorcycle taxi drivers. The fee exemption is part of a set of measures aimed at enhancing the category, which includes the donation of safety equipment, such as helmets and vests.
