The Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, will visit the municipality of Loulé on January 17th, highlighting the inauguration of a Photovoltaic Plant for Self-Consumption in Vilamoura.
The official visit begins at 10:00 in the Noble Hall of Loulé City Council, where a welcome session will be held and the municipality’s climate action policy will be presented. This moment will give special attention to protected areas under municipal initiative, such as the Local Natural Reserve of Foz do Almargem and Trafal.
At 11am, the minister will visit the Loulé Municipal Market to learn about the energy and sustainability project of this space. This is followed by a visit to the Algarvensis Geoparque Store, an innovative project for the Algarve barrocal, the result of a partnership between Loulé, Silves and Albufeira.
At 12:00, the delegation travels to Quarteira to visit the Arcaya development, a Bondstone residential condominium that stands out for its strong sustainability component and high standards of energy efficiency.
In the afternoon, at 3:00 pm, the Photovoltaic Plant for Self-Consumption at the Pumping Station will be inaugurated at Praia da Marina, in Vilamoura.
This infrastructure has an annual production capacity of 200 kW, intended to power the wastewater pumping station at Alameda da Praia da Marina, contributing to reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
The plant integrates 358 double-sided solar panels, an innovative system that captures direct solar radiation and heat reflected from the ground, doubling the efficiency in relation to the panels already existing at Inframoura’s headquarters.
This investment is part of the municipal company’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint, in line with the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Strategy.
