Operation Scream Fake arrests 12 people, including NGO leaders, for links to the PCC

An operation carried out jointly by the resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of having links to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). Among those detained are the president and vice-president of the NGO Pacto Social & Carcerário, which is dedicated to supporting prisoners and ex-detainees. In addition to them, three lawyers were also captured during the action. Called Scream Fake, the operation carried out 14 search and seizure warrants in several locations in the state of São Paulo and in the city of Londrina, Paraná. The investigations began approximately three years ago, after the discovery of memory cards that a visitor tried to introduce into Penitentiary 2 of Presidente Venceslau. Analysis of detainee manuscripts revealed the existence of criminal practices by the PCC, organized into groups such as “ties” (lawyers), “health” and “financial”. The NGO was allegedly involved in actions to destabilize the judicial system. Prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya highlighted that the demonstrations promoted by the NGO were orchestrated by members of the PCC, who used the organization as a front. He also mentioned that the NGO did not receive public or private funding, which raises questions about its legitimacy.

As a result of the investigations, the São Paulo Court decided to suspend the NGO’s activities and remove its content from social media platforms. The detained lawyers were responsible for managing the criminal organization’s health sector, selecting professionals to serve PCC prisoners, including aesthetic services. These services were financed by resources arising from illicit activities and were offered only to privileged members of the faction, highlighting the hierarchical structure and privileges within the PCC.
