After Sidônio Palmeira’s inauguration at the Social Communication Secretariat, he spoke to journalists at Palácio do Planalto this Tuesday (14), where he highlighted that the decision on his next position is in the hands of the president. He avoided expressing any personal preference, stating that he has no will of his own and that he will follow the guidelines given to him.

In addition to his work as a former minister, Paulo Pimenta is a federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul and is a member of the PT bench in the Chamber of Deputies. During the conversation with the press, he highlighted that President Lula is correct in wanting to reformulate the government’s communication. Pimenta expressed that he is awaiting a definition of his future role and mentioned that he agreed with the president to take a few days off, without rushing to resolve the issue. He patiently waits for the moment when Lula will call him to assign him a new role.

The appointment of Sidônio Palmeira represents the first ministerial change discussed between members of the government and congressmen. Palmeira, upon taking office, highlighted that his main challenge will be to combat fake news and modernize the federal government’s communication, making it more accessible and clear to the population.
