Spiral leafwort is a small perennial herb belonging to the saxifrage family. It grows from 5 to 20 cm. It has light green, heart-shaped or kidney-shaped leaves with toothed edges.

Its flowers are small, light yellow and gather in clusters. They usually bloom from March to May and provide food for pollinating insects that wake up in early spring.
