The British group Arrow, through the ACO II fund, notified the Competition Authority (AdC) about the acquisition of exclusive control of Monte Rei Golf & Country Club, with a golf course located in Vila Nova de Cacela, in the Algarve. This transaction reinforces the Algarve’s prominence as a reference destination for golf course lovers. The transaction, which includes companies and assets linked to the business, will be analyzed by the regulator within the scope of business concentration rules.
The business covers seven operating companies under the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club brand, which operate in the tourism sector, including the management of a golf course and developments in the region. This acquisition reinforces the presence of the British group in the Portuguese real estate and tourism market.
Arrow’s presence in Portugal
The Arrow Global group, founded in the United Kingdom in 2005, is regulated in seven European countries and has more than 4 thousand employees and 110 billion euros under management. In Portugal, its operations include the management of overdue loans, real estate investments and the operation of tourist developments and golf courses.
Activities in the country are managed through subsidiaries such as Whitestar, Norfin, Restart Capital and Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure. The latter is responsible for managing projects linked to hotels, sports and leisure, including golf courses such as PGA Aroeira Lisboa, Palmares (Lagos), Vilamoura and Vale Pisão (Santo Tirso).
