When do you actually wake up? When the alarm goes off, or after the first cup of coffee in the morning? However, according to many experts, lovers of this energizer should beware…
You can’t even imagine a morning without coffee, and the black drink is the first thing you offer your body every day. If you are in the same situation, then you belong to a large group of Czechs who, according to a large group of dietitians, commit a small crime with their bodies. There are several reasons and they are not incomprehensible at all. It’s just a matter of getting a good idea of how our body actually works.

Problems we don’t add to coffee
What happens when you give your body coffee first thing in the morning? Many people may not notice anything, but due to its composition, coffee irritates an empty stomach, which can lead to unpleasant stomach and intestinal problems over time. There is even talk of ulcers or irritable bowel syndrome. Are we going to risk it, or do we still prefer to sit down for a while with our coffee and eat at least a piece of buttered bread at the same time, or maybe have a yogurt with a healthy banana?
It’s not just about increased pressure…
Coffee, or especially the caffeine contained in it, also increases blood pressure. After all, that is also why most of us drink it. But its effect is usually much higher when we offer it to an empty stomach. At that moment, a greater production of cortisol, called the stress hormone, is also triggered. This does not mean that we will necessarily be overwhelmed by stress and depression, but the body will begin to act as if it is in danger.
Heart, diabetes – and what else?
In the long term, experts who definitely do not recommend such coffee drinking agree that it is a threat to the heart, increasing the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes, or gradual loss of bone mass due to the effect on the body’s calcium management.
It’s an addiction like any other
One side of the coin is stimulation of the organism, but the other (especially with higher doses of caffeine) is restlessness, palpitations, anxiety and later also the quite obvious addiction that the body builds up to caffeine. According to some doctors, everything is exacerbated by drinking coffee on an empty stomach.
There are also milder currents
But in order not to be so strict about this drink, the truth is that, on the other hand, there are also studies that either confirm the mentioned concerns only in part, or even question such a risk. However, this does not mean that, according to them, coffee does not have the mentioned negative effects on the body, it is only possible to discuss the increased level of risk when drinking it without breakfast. But do we really want to risk it, or would we rather have coffee after breakfast?
No coffee “not even a shot”
How are you doing? Do you also take the shortest route to the coffee machine after waking up, or can you spare a few minutes in the morning for a leisurely breakfast, with which you can have your first cup of coffee without any worries? Or do you avoid her completely?
