Freezing is one of the basic procedures in the kitchen that allows you to preserve the freshness and properties of products for longer. Many people wonder Can you freeze minced meat at all? Of course. However, this should be done in a strictly defined way.
Preparing minced meat for freezing you should start by purchasing fresh meat. It is best that the product comes from a proven supplier that we trust. Then we will be sure that what we buy is of good quality. It’s worth choosing whole piece of meat.
Wash and dry the meat. Then independently grind them in a food processorwithout adding any spices. After that, the meat divide into portionsthat will suit your needs. Thanks to this, instead of defrosting, for example, a whole kilogram, you will only reach for a package with the smaller amount of product needed. This way you will also prevent wasting food.
It is best to freeze minced meat immediately after purchase or immediately after grinding. The longer it stays in the fridge, the worse its quality will be after defrosting.
Minced meat for freezing can be packed in two ways: in a bag or container. Both the bag and the container must be intended for contact with food and for freezing. If the second requirement is not met, the bag or container may be damaged by low temperature. This may result in microorganisms or pieces of plastic getting into the meat.
Place the prepared and portioned minced meat in a freezer bag. Flatten the meat as much as possible. The thinner the portions will be they will defrost fasterand they will also occupy less space in the freezer. Remove as much air as possible from the bag and close it tightly. Label everything with the date of freezing and weight.
Do the same when freezing minced meat in a container. Select a container of the appropriate size, wash it and dry it thoroughly. His fill the space with meat, but do not press it hard. Close the container tightly and label it with the freezing date and the weight of the meat.
