Israel suspends signing of ceasefire. Hamas will have “extorted” some points of the agreement

Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu

“Last minute crisis” between Israel and Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended the vote on the ceasefire until Hamas clarified some points of the agreement.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s office accused Hamas of creating a “last-minute crisis” after allegedly trying to change details of the ceasefire project.

According to Israeli government sources cited by the American agency Associated Press, the Israeli Executive will not approve the application of the agreement until the differences are clarified.

Hamas is denying parts of the agreement reached with mediators and Israel, in an attempt to extort last minute concessions”, stated the Israeli leader’s office.

The sources added that the Council of Ministers will not meet until mediators notify Israel that Hamas, which rules Gaza, has accepted all elements of the agreement.

The agreement reached between Israel and Hamas provides for a complete ceasefire for 42 days starting Sunday, after 15 months of a devastating war, and the exchange of 33 Israeli hostages for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
