The Itamaraty Palace, which represents the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also issued an official statement welcoming the suspension of the war, after mediation promoted by the governments of Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

“If officially confirmed by the parties involved, the agreement will stop the conflict that, in 15 months, fatally killed more than 46 thousand Palestinians, with a large proportion of women and children, and more than 1,200 Israelis, in addition to more than 160 journalists and 265 employees of the United Nations. The conflict also caused the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of people and the destruction of the infrastructure of the Palestinian territory, including hospitals and schools, generating incalculable indirect damage for current and future generations”, says the note.

“Brazil urges the parties involved to respect the terms of the agreement and to guarantee the permanent cessation of hostilities, the release of all hostages and the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, as well as to ensure the necessary conditions for the start of the urgent process of rebuilding its civil infrastructure.”
