A 36-year-old man, identified as Daniel Silveira, died on Tuesday night (14) after fleeing an approach by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), in Ponta Grossa, in the Nova Russia neighborhood. The man had an outstanding arrest warrant for child support debt.

During a patrol by the Municipal Civil Guard, the man was found driving a car. When approached, the victim stopped the vehicle but then fled.
While escaping, Daniel tried to hit a vehicle belonging to the Special Tactical Group with Motorcycles (GETAM), and then a guard shot the tire of the man’s car, but he continued driving.
“Daniel disregarded traffic signs and even drove on the wrong side of the road. On several occasions, the driver opened the vehicle’s windows and an agent allegedly identified an object in the passenger seat with characteristics of a firearm,” says the police report.
After the teams fired shots, Daniel collided with the structure of a school, was rescued but succumbed to his injuries.
According to information obtained by , the Civil Police stated that there was a revolver inside the man’s car. However, the bulletin does not state that the suspect had shot at the municipal guards.

Daniel Silveira’s defense lawyer stated that he was not involved in the armed confrontation with the Municipal Civil Guard, according to the portal’s findings.
Furthermore, she confirmed that the man had an arrest warrant for child support debt, issued in September 2024.
Public Security Secretariat speaks out about the case
The Municipal Secretariat of Citizenship and Public Security of Ponta Grossa, responsible for managing the GCM, expressed itself in a statement and stated that appropriate measures were taken after analyzing the case.
“Regarding the case, preliminary information shows that the situation occurred during an approach to a vehicle followed by the escape of the suspect, who had an open arrest warrant”, says the note to Banda B.
