It all happened in Underwood, Australia. The 34-year-old woman managed to take medicine “without medical authorization” and gave it to a girl, whose relationship with the suspect was not disclosed. Soon after, she shared videos of the child in “immense anguish and pain” on social media.
The aim of the scheme was to “attract monetary donations and online followers”. And he even managed to raise the equivalent of around 35 thousand euros.
The alert was given by the medical team at the hospital where the child was treated and, after months of investigation, the Australian ended up arrested this Thursday. He now faces five counts of administering poison with intent to cause harm, three of preparing to commit crimes with dangerous things and one of torture, manufacturing child exploitation material and fraud. Only the first charges carry a penalty of five to 20 years in prison.
