The 38-year-old man, who in various internet publications referred to people from the LGTBIQ+ group as “sick”, has been arrested for an alleged crime of public incitement to hatred, as reported this morning from the Malaga Provincial Police Station. . After being brought to justice, the promoter, who through direct messages also insulted and attacked the mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid (PP), has been released with charges after his statement. The event was scheduled to be held this Saturday, January 18, in a central location in , which the promoter had agreed to rent. Its head had called it Club Fátima Ino and had made different posts on Instagram to make it known. One of them, uploaded to the social network profile last week, reflected the party’s rules. The sign read: “No fighting, drugs, hats, flip flops or faggots.”
A person close to the mayor notified her of this and the councilor posted a screenshot of the announcement on her social networks along with a message. “Hate and homophobia have no place here and we are going to do everything in our power to ban this event and any other event,” wrote Del Cid, who immediately received private messages from the promoter in which he attacked her and reiterated homophobic attitudes. , as explained by municipal sources. The man also announced that he would move the celebration to the city of Malaga weeks later.
The councilor went to the National Police to denounce both the homophobic attitudes of the event and the messages she had received. Days later, the Malaga Prosecutor’s Office opened ex officio proceedings to analyze whether the person responsible for the event had committed any crime by prohibiting people from entering the club due to their sexual orientation or whether the dignity of this group was harmed, since the poster announcing The rules placed the prohibition of fights, drugs or “faggots” at the same level.
“Various investigations were carried out that culminated in the identification and location of the person promoting the event, supposedly responsible for the discriminatory comments towards the LGTBI community on social networks and also for some messages that threatened the honor of the mayor of the city” , police sources explained today.
For this reason, last Tuesday, January 14, the man was arrested by agents of the National Police, as confirmed this Thursday. The arrest is due to his alleged responsibility in a crime of public promotion or incitement to hatred. He was then brought before the court so that his statement could be taken. He has since been released on charges.
In parallel, the Junta de Andalucía announced, days ago, the opening of a file against the promoter of the homophobic party based on Law 8/2017 of December 28, to guarantee the rights, equal treatment and non-discrimination of LGTBI people and their families. The fine can amount to up to 60,000 euros. The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, described the event promoted by the Fátima Ino Club as “directly intolerable” and “directly illegal” and said that the attitudes shown by those responsible “have no place whatsoever” in Spanish regulations “and in the Constitution.”
