Three people have been injured and one person arrested for the attack by dogs that occurred on Wednesday next to a shopping center in the Madrid district of Villa de Vallecas. The events, which are still being investigated, took place around 7:15 a.m. on Adofo Bioy Casares Street, near the La Gavia shopping center.

Two Belgian Shepherd dogs attacked a couple passing by. One of them tried to escape by jumping from a height of five meters onto the loading dock of a well-known furniture store. Upon the arrival of the Municipal Police, this man’s sleeves were torn by the dogs’ bites, and he stated that he could not feel the lower part of his body.

As reported by a Madrid Emergency spokesperson to Europa Press, the man, 45 years old and of Uruguayan nationality, suffered a fractured pelvis, a possible broken arm and was transferred to the La Paz hospital in a non-serious condition.

The other injured man was also chased by the dogs and a police patrol vehicle stood in his way to prevent further injuries. However, he was treated by paramedics for minor injuries, so he was taken to the hospital in a mild condition. The municipal agents also helped a third person, in this case a woman who was being robbed by the dogs. She was evacuated by ambulance to the Infanta Leonor hospital for injuries to her face, a spokesperson for the Local Corps told Europa Press.

The agents tried to locate the Belgian shepherds and found one of them at Valdeculebras Street and Escuela de Vallecas Street. It got into a fenced plot and they had to control it until the owner arrived, located by the microchip. He stated that the dogs had escaped the night before, something that he had reported to 112 and 091, and that until that moment he did not know where they were. The man, a 27-year-old Spaniard, was arrested for what happened.
