101 Dalmatians actress Joan Plowright dies at 95

British Joan Plowright, known for her work on 101 Dalmatians (1996) and Dennis – The Pepper (1993), has died at the age of 95. The artist’s family confirmed the news to the BBC, but did not reveal the cause of her death.

What happened

  • In a statement, Joan Plowright’s family said they were “so proud of all Joan did and who she was as a loving and deeply inclusive human being.”
  • The actress lost her sight in the last decade and was blind. She spent the last years of her life at her home in Sussex, England and received visits from friends and family. “Years filled with laughter and good memories”, states the text.
  • Due to her performance in A Dream of Spring (1991), she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress. In cinema, she was also in The Last Great Hero (1993), Dennis – The Pepper (1993), 101 Dalmatians (1996), among others.
  • The actress graduated from the Old Vic Theater School and won a Tony for her role in A Taste of Honey.
