The (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved a total of R$52.3 billion in financing for 2024, which represents a 26% growth compared to the R$41.5 billion approved in the previous year.
In 2022, the last year of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, the volume of approved resources was R$27.2 billion.
In total, the development bank carried out 191,231 operations in 2024, an increase of 27.9% compared to 149,430 in 2023 and 60% compared to 2022 (119,304).
The number of total operations includes those carried out directly by BNDES and those carried out through accredited financial institutions, which include loans from the federal government’s agricultural programs, available at lower interest rates.
Of the R$52.3 billion, R$38.2 billion (82.86%) occurred within the scope of — around R$10.3 billion referring to the second semester of the 2023-2024 Harvest Plan (January to June 2024) and R$27.9 billion in the first half of the year.
The resources were allocated to rural producers, cooperatives, family farmers and agribusinesses to expand production, purchase machinery and equipment, storage and innovation, among other purposes.
“It is important to highlight that the increase in our agricultural credit is accompanied by public policies to promote a low-carbon economy and environmental preservation”, stated the president of BNDES, .
