The stamp commemorating the 135th anniversary of the Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Fire Department was presented this Wednesday, at the Local Market, where the Philatelic Exhibition is on display.
This stamp was created by CTT and was based on the magazine “Prevenir”, which was for some years the official organ of the Association and the Fire Command.
For the Municipality of Castro Marim, “this stamp and the commemorative firefighter seal are a historical landmark, honorably immortalized in philately, in addition to assuming as strategic for the territory the use of synergies, the valorization of a joint project and a single corporation with a significant reinforcement of public support”.
On the same day, a Post Office operated in the Local Market, while in the late afternoon there was a motorized parade with vehicles used by firefighters, which crossed the two municipalities in the eastern Algarve.
The Philatelic Exhibition is open until January 20th and can be visited daily during the Local Market’s opening hours, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
This initiative is organized by the collecting section of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim, in partnership with , the Portuguese Philately Federation and CTT Correios de Portugal.
