Pedro Rousseff (PT) was elected councilor of Belo Horizonte (MG); the project aims to “combat misinformation”
The councilor of Belo Horizonte (MG) (PT), nephew of the former president (PT), presented a PL (Bill of Law) to establish in the city’s municipal schools the “ensino anti-fake news”. O project was presented amid , justified as disinformation.
The project has “the objective of promoting media literacy and training students with the critical ability to identify, analyze and combat disinformation”says the project. Here is the document (PDF – 429kB).
According to the project, the “ensino anti-fake news” will develop pedagogical activities for the “development of information checking and source verification skills”. Students should also be taught how to use social media safely and identify elements of fake news and content manipulation.
The contents can be integrated into existing disciplines and covered in complementary activities and interdisciplinary projects, says the project.
“Thus, ‘anti-fake news teaching’ will contribute to strengthening education as a pillar of resistance to misinformation and to building a fairer and more informed society”wrote Rousseff in the justification of the PL.
The councilor’s proposal comes after the repercussion of news about possible taxation of Pix on monthly transactions above R$5,000. As the measure aimed to increase the of the Federal Revenue was by the federal government after the negative repercussions.
