Handball World Cup: Portugal beats Brazil and advances to second group stage

This Friday, the Portuguese handball team secured qualification for the second phase of the by beating Brazil 30-26, in the second round of group E, held in Oslo, Norway.

After the 30-21 victory over the United States, the team from the corners, which at half-time was trailing by three goals (12-15), beat the team that had surprised co-hosts Norway (29-26) in the opening round.

Duel with Norway on Sunday

In the third round, scheduled for Sunday, Paulo Jorge Pereira’s ‘seven’, which has four points, against Brazil’s two, faces Norway, who still face the United States today, in a clash between two teams still at zero.

The top three in each group advance to the second group stage, with the points obtained in the games with the others qualified.
