The Italian government has stated that it will make a new delivery of weapons to Ukraine after the defense ministers of both countries met. The aid package will include weapons that are intended strengthen the Ukrainian military arsenal with the aim of resisting the Russian threat.
“The main news is that another military aid package from Italy is on the way to Ukraine. This is modern weaponry that will help our warriors launch powerful attacks against the enemy,” Umerov explained.
Apart from the delivery of military weapons, both countries discussed the possibility of using funds from frozen Russian assets to acquire air defense systems and ammunition.
This announcement comes just a few days after the meeting in Rome of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, with the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, where the Ukrainian president thanked him for “strong support” a la Italian.
This shipment of weapons is in addition to what was already announced in September 2024 by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, who stated that he would deliver a second SAMP-T air defense battery to Ukraine.
