The minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (STF), rejected an appeal presented by the former president’s defense Jair Bolsonaro (PL)which asked for the return of the confiscated passport so that he could attend the inauguration ceremony of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.
Bolsonaro was invited by Trump to the inauguration, which takes place next Monday (20), in Washington.
who then decided to present an appeal to the Court. The judge followed the recommendation of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in denying the former president’s request.
“I maintain the decision that rejected the requests made by Jair Messias Bolsonaro on their own grounds. The files must be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for comment, within 5 (five) days, in accordance with art. 52, XIII, of the Internal Regulations of this Supreme Court”, noted Moraes.
Bolsonaro, whose passport was seized by the Supreme Court in February last year, was indicted in December for an alleged coup attempt. He also faces other proceedings in court.
