Hero of Atlético de Alagoinhas in the duel against Bahia, Felipe Cardoso has a lot to celebrate on and off the field. The midfielder, who came off the bench in the first half, hit a beautiful shot to give the team from the interior the victory, at Fonte Nova, on Thursday night (16).
After the match, he celebrated the feat and remembered the drama he experienced. Felipe is one of the survivors of the tragedy at Ninho do Urubu, Flamengo’s training center, in Rio de Janeiro, which caught fire in February 2019. The fire caused the death of ten athletes aged between 14 and 16.
“Very happy, thanking God for what he has been doing in my life. In recent years, many things have happened in my life, but God has proven that I am an overachiever in person. It is to thank my companions, because without them I would not have been able to “, began Felipe.
The midfielder managed to escape the fire with his life because he stayed up late that day talking to a brother on the phone. The player, however, lost ten teammates and says that it is because of them that he continues to play football.
“A few years ago there was this event in my life, I’m overcoming, I’m fighting for my friends. Recently my grandfather passed away, so this is for my friends who passed away, for my grandfather, for my family in São Paulo, my wife is pregnant. This is for them”, added the player.
After leaving Flamengo, Felipe Cardoso turned professional at Santa Cruz, the club he played for last year. The 21-year-old player is now looking for a fresh start in Bahian football and is the state’s top scorer, with two goals.
